The Home
The oldest home in Paso Robles. Built in 1872 by Drury James — the man who founded the town, and the uncle of Jesse James — and fully restored since. There is no other stay in the collection, or in Paso Robles, with this provenance.
2,700 square feet on the west side of downtown, close to the restaurants and tasting rooms. Three bedrooms, the primary downstairs with its own bath, two queens upstairs. The kitchen runs on a 60-inch commercial Viking range, and the great room has a pool table alongside the seating.
The grounds are the real luxury: covered and open patios, a large deck, an outdoor kitchen with a built-in grill, refrigerator and sink, a spa, a gazebo, a pond, horseshoe pits, fruit trees and sprawling lawns under giant oak and walnut trees.

Good to Know
Are there really ducks and chickens?
Yes — they free range during the day and swim in the pond. Most guests love them. If you'd rather not share the garden with poultry, this isn't the right home for you, and we'd rather say so now than have you find out on arrival.
Is anyone else on the property?
There's an occupied guest unit with its own fenced yard. None of the amenities are shared — the spa, grounds, patios and outdoor kitchen are yours alone. A caretaker walks through the yard morning and evening to tend the chickens and ducks.
Is the history real?
It is. Drury James founded Paso Robles and built this house in 1872. He was also Jesse James's uncle — a detail guests tend to enjoy more than they expect to.
Can we walk to downtown?
Yes — the home sits on the west side of downtown, close to the restaurants and tasting rooms.
